It was a bright and sunny morning. White, fluffy clouds drifted across the sky. A golden glow spread across the sky as the sun chased the dark clouds away. The whole landscape was bathed in the warm glow of the rising sun.
Palm trees swayed gently in the breeze under the warm tropical sunshine. Fresh air filled everyone's lungs and they felt refreshed and exhilarated. Noise spread in a bustling city of many; people from all walks of life arose and began their normal daily lifestyle. Nobody seemed to notice the unsettling aberration that was about to settle on the warm and safe ground of Earth.
The science laboratory lay empty. The floor was peddled with papers and scripts. Equations and workings were scribbled on the wall in such a disarray that no one would be able to read.
By now, the laboratory was abandoned and for a good reason too. Only one scientist remained as he stared at the heaps of equations on paper scattered across the floor.
Upon one glance, the scientist realised that those were probability equations but for what? The answer came swarming to his head as he stared at the closest wall in front of him on which only three but deadly sentences were written -
“DOOMSDAY HAS COME!!! THERE IS NO ESCAPE!!! RUN!!!”
The scientist's mind began to throb as the dangerous fangs of anxiety and eeriness bit into his mind. He started to breathe heavily.
He looked at the paper again to see the figures 99.67482%, his eyes widened as he began zooming home but it was too late…
“BOOM!!!” An enormous explosion exploded in the sky. Shockwaves were sent which ricocheted off earth in massive seismic waves. Due to this, tectonic plates shifted under tremendous stress that were never once meant to hold. Volcanoes the size of Mount Tambora spewed out tremendous waves of lava and magma all around the place. Nearby cities and villages burned into ashes without a trace of existence; rivers steamed into molecules under such intense heat. Buildings crumbled like legos under such pressure and radiation that they were never meant to withstand. Temperatures hit as high as 2 million degrees celsius.
Slowly and painfully people died while the scientist watched as all chaos around him unfolded. He started to feel numb, all he could think of was, “Goodbye Earth,“ as his poor soul left his body.
As he rose, he looked up to see the other souls above him slowly dissolve into tiny sub-atomic particles, to drift off far into who knows where. A millions questions bubbled inside his mind but he didnt think off them. Only one word echoed through his mind, “rest”. Everything deserves rest after all it’s contributions big or small alway makes a difference to the lives of others.
But that still does not mean that rest is eternal. Every species deserves to thrive and not face extinction. That is why there is a word called “ REBIRTH “. And now it is their time to rebirth, Humanities time.
Finally, it was the scientist's turn. As he rose up and looked into the sky, his life passed before his eyes. His chest swelled with pride at every one of his achievements and contributions but his eyes watered at every misdeed and failiure. “Nothing is perfect.” He reminded himself.
“Finally rest.” Once he reach the sky, all his molecules collapsed unfolding as quickly as lightning and all his essence scattered mixing and matching with others to slowly form a small, newborn lifeform. Suddenly a baby was brought to this world. The “scientist” found his memories all wiped out. He found himself in a place that he once called ‘home’.
